- Clearstack does not collect any data. Nothing about you, your files or how you use the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
- All scanning and cleaning happens locally, on your Mac.
- No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
- The app does not send anything over the internet. The only web pages it opens are this site's pages, and only when you click a link.
What Clearstack reads
Clearstack runs in Apple's App Sandbox. To find developer caches, it asks you to choose your home folder in the standard macOS Open panel. macOS then lets Clearstack read that folder, and Clearstack saves a bookmark so it doesn't have to ask again at every launch. You can choose a different folder or replay the setup from About at any time.
Clearstack reads folder names, sizes and modification dates to recognize caches and build folders and to measure them. It does not open, read or upload the contents of your documents.
What Clearstack changes
Only items you choose to clean (or Safe items, if you turn on automatic cleaning) are moved to the Trash. Clearstack never empties your Trash.
What stays on your Mac
Your settings, excluded folders, the results of your last scan and your cleaning history are stored locally, inside Clearstack's private sandbox container. They never leave your Mac and we can't see them.
Deleting this information
You can clear the cleaning history in Settings → History. Deleting Clearstack from your Mac removes its container and everything in it.
What we don't do
- No personal data, usage data, diagnostics, crash reports or identifiers are collected.
- No third-party SDKs, analytics services or advertising networks.
- No data is sold or shared, because none is collected.
If you choose to contact support by email, your message and email address are only used to answer you.
Children
Clearstack doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.
